What a perfect weekend! I spent Saturday weeding the garden and replanting where the squirrels and crows had dug up the seeds. I've got peas, spinach, chard, zucchini, carrots, lettuce and kohl rabi that came up. I replanted beans, beets and got a couple of cucumber starts. I managed to get all but two very important spots covered with sunblock. Those two spots are now a brilliant shade of red.

On Sunday the family came over and Clara did a great job of watering all of the plants with the watering can. My mom took her around to the front yard to find some new ground to water since the backyard plants were nearly drowning. They watered "all of the pretty yellow flowers," you know the one's I had just put weed killer on (:

I had such a blast taking pictures of the kids, I included a couple of my favorites, the rest are on the picasa site (link to the left).

We had more food than we could eat and the kids played in the yard and made wood models. It was great to have them over. Some of my favorites conversations of the day:

Clara playing in the fountain: "Emmett, let's get in trouble" as she took a handful of the decorative rocks and tossed them in the garbage.

Kallan as he finished his model: "Can you guys deal me in?" asking to join the card game we were playing.

Me to the boys as they captured tent caterpillars in the yard: "Would you like to see how they burn?" Not my favorite of natures beasts. A phobia resulting from a foul ball and a me sitting under a tree full of them. I still get the heebies thinking about it.
The day was perfect and today, the holiday gift of Monday off is to be spent relaxing and getting a package ready for Ryan. He sends his love and looks forward to joining us next year on Memorial Day.

Thanks for sharing, Emily!!

Another of my favorite moments was the conversation between Clara & you...
Clara: the caterpillars aren't moving.
Emily: maybe they're DEAD!

Thanks, Emily, for sharing the beautiful pictures. It looks like everyone had a fun-filled day, with lots of good things to eat...like olives!
I really, really, really miss sharing special times with Clara and Emmett. They are growing so quickly.
Send our love and best wishes to Ryan.
